TEHRAN – Major General Mohammad Baqeri, the chief of staff of the Iranian armed forces, has lauded the defeat of Daesh (ISIS) in Iraq and Syria, saying Iranian Armed Forces are prepared to counter plots by enemies to create another similar terror group.

Baqeri made the remarks in a congratulatory message to Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei on Thursday.

He said “although the fall of Daesh heralds the collapse of the sinister dominance of the U.S. and its regional and extra-regional allies” but the guidelines of the Leader, who has called for vigilance in the face of enemy plots, should be taken into serious consideration, Press TV reported.

Brigadier General Massoud Jazayeri, the deputy chief of Iran's armed forces, has made similar remarks, saying the axis of resistance will reinforce itself until “the annihilation of the Zionist regime and the expulsion of the each and every last American soldier from the region.”
